Answers to common questions about using Orosi. If you have more questions, reach out using the contact details below.

Where are my entries stored?

Your entries are stored on the device you're using, not on an Orosi server. Your writing, feelings, and dates are not sent to the operator or to any statistics server, and the entry database is encrypted on your device.

Can I export my entries?

In Settings, you can export your entries as a JSON file, or import a file you exported earlier. The exported file is plain, unencrypted text — please keep and share it carefully. Deleting entries in the app does not delete copies you've already saved or shared elsewhere.

Are the screen lock and encryption the same thing?

No — they're two separate security features. In Settings, you can turn on a screen lock using device authentication (fingerprint, face, etc.), which only guards opening the app. Encrypting your saved entries is separate and always applied. Your data is encrypted even if you never turn the screen lock on.

If I change phones or back up my device, do my entries come with it?

Your operating system's automatic backup works independently of Orosi's own export feature. Depending on your device and backup method, an encrypted copy of your entries may be included in a system backup, but the key needed to read it isn't always guaranteed to be restored along with it. When switching devices, we recommend exporting a JSON file in Settings and moving it yourself.

Do you send usage statistics?

Usage statistics are off by default. Only if you turn them on — during onboarding or in Settings — does the app send usage information, without your writing, and you can turn it off again anytime. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is and isn't sent.
